Sparkling Lemonade with Butterfly Pea Tea Ice Cubes

Fresh and colourful, this Sparkling Lemonade with Butterfly Pea Tea Ice Cubes is the perfect refresher for the warm summer days. It makes an excellent non-alcoholic drink for the patio season, but it can also be super fun to serve at a birthday party or family gathering.

Sparkling Lemonade coming right up! Only it's not just Lemonade; it's a beautiful purple coloured lemonade. The best part? The purple colour if not given by any added artificial flavouring, but by a healthy nowadays popular tea called butterfly pea flower. And, if you're acquainted with my blog, you already know that I already have a post featuring this lovely blue tea in a Blue Moon Latte. Click this linkand you can find more details on this blue powder tea with health benefits attached.

Can you tell that I like this blue drink a bit too much? Well, yes! :) I sure enjoy a good looking beverage with added health benefits. Who wouldn't?

So, I came up with a lemonade idea that is just a bit more interesting to serve. I've been drinking this lemonade for over a month now, and I can't get enough. You have it ready in a matter of minutes as long as you have the ice cubes available in your freezer. Easy to make! It honestly can't get easier than this.

Talking about the ice cubes, they have a 'wow' factor ready to impress if you're planning a birthday party.

Trust me, if you make this drink, lots of compliments will come your way. Place them strategically in a glass bowl (on top of another bowl full of commercial ice cubes to keep them from melting), and your guests will be gathering around the drinks area. They're almost looking like purple crystal gems. :)

(4-6 servings):

*Ice cubes to be prepared and frozen overnight*

Butterfly Pea Tea Ice Cubes

- 1 L (33.8 oz/ 4.5 cups) - filtered water

- 2 tsp (8.4 g) - organic butterfly pea powder

- 1/8 cup (30 ml) – org maple syrup

Prep: Mix well all the ingredients in a large glass pitcher/ jug. Prepare two large ice cubes trays, and the tea in, and freeze overnight. Makes approx. 30-45 ice cubes.

*Note: If prepping a more extensive amount of ice cubes – use ½ tsp butterfly pea powder per 250 ml of water, adding extra sweetener (unrefined sugar-based recommended) as preferred.

Sparkling Lemonade
 - 1 L (33.8 oz/ 4.5 cups) - chilled sparkling water (sugar-free)

-  Five org lemons

Prep: Add the sparkling water to a large pitcher/ jug, squeeze the juice of four lemons. Thinly slice the leftover lemon for serving purposes.

**Note: This drink is low in sugar. Feel free to add more maple syrup or your preferred sweetener as desired.

Serving Suggestion: Add 15-20 butterfly pea ice cubs to the sparkling lemonade, and serve, or pour the sparkling lemonade into individual glasses, add four-five (or desired amount) ice cubes per serving, and top with a lemon slice.

Enjoy cold!

And it's not only a summer drink. You can make it in any season. You can even add fresh basil or thyme if you want to get fancy.
